The Health Crisis We’re Facing

We are facing a health crisis that many people aren’t talking about enough. Highly processed foods now account for over 60 percent of the average American diet. These foods are linked to chronic inflammation, poor gut health, hormonal disruption, and an increased risk of metabolic disease. Our food supply is dominated by ultra-processed, addictive products that damage the gut, disrupt hormones, and leave us chronically inflamed. Food addictions are growing, often masked by emotional eating and fueled by an overwhelming amount of misleading information. Many people are following trendy diets and health fads that are creating more confusion than ever and making it difficult to achieve real, lasting results. At the same time, body dysmorphia is becoming more common especially among teens and young adults who are constantly exposed to unrealistic images and a toxic culture of comparison on social media.

Social media, once a tool for connection, is now contributing to a dangerous decline in self-esteem, movement, and real-life interaction. We are becoming more sedentary, more isolated, and more emotionally unwell. Depression and anxiety are rising at alarming rates, particularly among young people, and yet so much of it ties back to how we eat, how we move, and how we connect with ourselves and the world around us.

In addition to rising mental and emotional struggles, we’re seeing record levels of chronic inflammation, fatigue, and metabolic disorders even among teens and young adults. More people than ever are relying on medications just to get through the day, whether it’s for anxiety, sleep, blood sugar control, gut issues, or pain management. And yet, most doctor’s visits only address symptoms, offering quick fixes instead of exploring and healing the root causes.

We’ve normalized being tired, bloated, stressed, and disconnected. We’re overfed but undernourished. We spend more time sitting and scrolling than we do moving or engaging with the people and purpose that give life meaning. Instead of addressing underlying patterns like poor nutrition, physical inactivity, disrupted sleep, and loneliness, people are too often given generic advice or another pill with no real plan for lasting change.

Alongside this, many people today are also struggling with chronic aches and pains, especially in the lower back, hips, and neck. Long hours of sitting, whether behind the wheel, at a desk, or on the couch, combined with poor posture, have created a generation of people with stiff, immobile bodies and limited range of motion. These physical restrictions not only increase the risk of injury but also quietly drain our energy, focus, and overall quality of life. True wellness means moving well, feeling strong, and having the physical freedom to live life fully and with confidence.
